Hi, and thank you for visiting our website. It’s a dog’s life was started by Mark & Caroline, both passionate about dogs and especially our own spaniels, Lilly, a five-year-old English Springer Spaniel and Annie a three-year-old working Cocker Spaniel. As you are probably aware this breed needs an awful lot of exercise and are not content with a quick lead walk around the block. As we spend most of our spare time walking our dogs in the beautiful countryside around Northamptonshire we decided that rather than leave it to a weekend treat this would be something that we would like to be able to do daily. We realised quickly that our dogs are better behaved and more content if they have had a good run and play and we are able to spend quality time with them. We understand this must be the dilemma that each dog owner faces, as like us, you are trying to fit quick walks in around the hectic lives we lead, often leaving the owner full of guilt and promises of a good walk later. Hence the idea of ‘It’s a dog’s life’ was born

Mark grew up in one of the lovely Northamptonshire villages we often walk our dogs, Loddington. His Mum and Dad owned and operated the local boarding kennels and dog training centre. Mark’s childhood was spent surrounded by animals with the kennel boarding up to 100 dogs and 100 cats at one time, their own family pet’s as well as the one’s that got left behind. Mark’s parents even published a book ‘Sane Dogs & Englishmen’ containing all their knowledge on dog training and care. Frank, Mark’s Dad was a police dog trainer and was considered a ‘dog psychologist’ of his time, travelling the world to advise owners on their dog’s behaviour. It was highly unlikely that with his upbringing and ingrained expertise Mark wouldn’t be involved in some way with dogs in his life.
